What is Mindful Media?
Mindfulness can be described as moment-to-moment awareness of one’s experiences without judgement or self-criticism. Through the practice of mindful meditations we can support our mental and emotional states and improve our ability to self-regulate —a critical step towards healing trauma and experiencing personal transformation.
The goal of mindful media is to help participants bring attention and awareness to their mental, emotional, and physical states of being.
Media is a means of communication. The contextual use of the term media in this case denotes a means of transmission or transference that leads to transformation. This transmission is not simply one of information or knowledge, but offers an invitation to enter more relaxed states of being. Mindful media can thereby act as a co-regulating factor for participants nervous systems, helping to reduce stress and anxiety, aid in the healing process, and provide many other benefits for personal wellness.
